The symptoms of stress may be barely noticeable at first.
Some of these “barely noticeable” ones may include mild depression, anxiety, occasional panic, emotional outbursts, sadness, insomnia, impotence, fluctuations in body weight, and changes in eating and drinking habits.
If you don’t have your usually pep and zest for life, and if you can’t remember the last time you had real fun, you might also be mildly stressed. This is a good time to catch it as it is very easy to make the changes that will restore your health before more serious symptoms appear.
Over time stress can turn into serious disorders that include severe depression, cancer, heart disease, skin disorders, hypertension, alcoholism, substance abuse, uncontrollable anger, heartburn, diabetes, irritable bowel syndrome, sexual dysfunction, stomach disorders, chest pain, and many of the so called “lifestyle” disorders and symptoms. It is most likely that prolonged exposure to stress can weaken the immune system and allow other diseases to develop more easily.
The good news is that if you make the effort to manage and prevent stress in your life, you will be rewarded with a life worth living. You’ll have more fun, better relationships, and a zest for life that can be very rewarding for you and those around you.
