Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy’s Resilience and Endurance

Tree of resilience and endurance

Our resilience and endurance stem from our willingness to allow, embrace, and continually choose the path of personal transformation – even when it feels like we’re walking through fire.

Back in 1986, Michael and I embarked on this wild journey called Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT), and here we are, still going strong after four incredible decades! We often find ourselves wondering, “What were we thinking?” But you might be asking, “What’s the secret behind your longevity?”

On a personal level, our resilience and endurance stem from our willingness to allow, embrace, and continually choose the path of personal transformation – even when it feels like we’re walking through fire. Michael and I weren’t “transformed” and then decided to start the school. Neither are we sitting here today claiming to have reached some ultimate level of transformation. Instead, every day, we hold up a mirror to ourselves and ask, “What can we do better today?” This commitment will persist until our last breath and maybe even beyond. Bottom line, our passion and unrelenting commitment to personal growth has given us the endurance we needed to continue this constantly undulating path.

Now, what gave Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy its resiliennce and endurance? PRYT seems deceptively simple – and it is! – that’s the secret sauce. Our approach has remained relevant and thrived for four decades in an ever-changing world because we’ve stayed true to the timeless simplicity and effectiveness of foundational yogic and Buddhist teachings. While the core principles of yoga and Buddhism have remained unchanged for thousands of years, the needs and challenges of our humanity continuously shifts and evolves. The resilience of the PRYT method stems from Michael’s wisdom in adapting, updating, and refining the techniques to meet these evolving needs. One example is Michael’s adaptation of the hands-on aspect to online delivery, which works just as profoundly as in person. In other words, the delivery has been adjusted to stay relevant in various times and circumstances. Yet, what has never changed is the profound impact of noticing and connecting with one’s inner voice through the body, a timeless and powerful tool for self-awareness and transformation.

PRYT’s resilience, endurance and magic lies in its ability to affirm the profound power of yogic and Buddhist teachings when woven together in a unique, transformative flow.

This makes PRYT look simple on the surface, and most of our students are professionals who are already deeply educated in yogic and Buddhist teachings, principles, and techniques. Some arrive with healthy skepticism and say to us, “This is too simple, I already know this, why is the PRYT method touted as so special?” We encourage students to stick with the process and by the time we get to Phase 4, Dropping-in, most folks have found their ‘aha’ moment.

So, here’s the kicker – PRYT is simple, not ‘simplistic.’ It’s like we’re Marie Kondo-ing: We strip away the clutter and complexity, leaving you with pure essence. And it isn’t about reinventing the wheel. It’s about taking age-old wisdom and shaping it into something extraordinary. PRYT’s resilience, endurance and magic lies in its ability to affirm the profound power of yogic and Buddhist teachings when woven together in a unique, transformative flow. We provide a container, a vessel, where these teachings can mingle and amplify each other, creating a space where profound shifts can occur and bring forth those “Aha!” moments.

In a world of constant change, PRYT’s enduring relevance lies in its unwavering commitment to timeless wisdom.

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy exists to assist individuals in navigating the intricacies of modern life by rediscovering the simplicity within themselves – and to hear the resounding voice of their soul.
