There are some exciting changes on the horizon of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy Practitioner Training. Currently our Yoga Therapy training includes a combination of Levels, 1, 2 and 3 with 2 adjunct courses; Anatomy & Physiology and Yoga Philosophy. This format of training has proved to be very rich and full. It has offered a great amount of personal development to students and has afforded graduates an opportunity to create a professional practice. Due to changes in the field of yoga therapy, this program will be growing and changing in 2015.
The International Association of Yoga Therapy (IAYT) is helping the field of yoga therapy emerge from the unseen to the seen. Our field is growing and in an effort to help make yoga therapy more viable, professional and accessible within the western medical model, IAYT is in the process of accrediting yoga therapy programs.
Our school, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, is applying for accreditation. This means we are implementing the competencies for education IAYT has published. It is a fantastic framework through which we are able to deliver with integrity the fullness and the power of the Phoenix Rising process of transformation.
In 2015 you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the study of Yoga Therapy through the lens of Phoenix Rising in a very full and comprehensive way. The program will become 2 years in length, will involve many of the courses you are already familiar with and will include the addition of several new and exciting courses. The breadth of how a graduate can work with clients will expand from what is currently offered through our Level 3 curriculum. The possibilities for networking with both traditional and alternative providers will expand.
What does this mean for you?
*If you began your course of study (defined as completed Level 1) with PRYT by December 31, 2013 then you have the option of taking Level 3 in its current framework in 2014 and have an opportunity to be grandfathered in as a yoga therapist without taking the additional courses.
*If you began your course of study with PRYT after January 1, 2014 and choose to take Level 3 in 2014, to be able to say you have graduated from an accredited yoga therapy program you will need to take the extras being offered in 2015 and beyond.
*If you begin your course of study with us in 2015, your path of study will look very different from those beginning in 2013 or 2014 – beginning with one year of prerequisite courses followed by a second year of hands-on-at-home practicum under the guidance of a skilled mentor (as well as 3-4 residential programs included in the 2nd year).
**Please note: 2014 will be the last year that Level 3 is offered as a nine month course with two, two week residential visits. As you make your decision about when to begin your course of study, please be aware that our tuition will increase in 2015 as will the amount of times you are required to travel for residential portions of the training.
We look forward to working with IAYT and other schools of yoga therapy to bring this powerful healing modality into mainstream awareness. Please contact the office with any questions about the upcoming changes and how they may affect your plans for studying with Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy.
